ANOTHER NEW DATE - Ohio State Senior Road Champs - Oct 5th!

Based on the lack of available resources to support the race this weekend due to the clean up from the bad weather last weekend, we need to reschedule the race.

I discussed the venue availability with the Corp of Engineers this afternoon.  The next available date is Sunday, 5 Oct; same times.

Keep the public in mind!

August 28th, 2008 Kirk Albers

A few promoters have commented this year about trouble with riders taking “natural breaks” in full view of the public.  Please keep the public in mind when “need to go” arises, complaints from Joe Q Public are how race courses are lost, usually forever.

One additional reminder, riders need to make certain to keep the road clear before and after events, especially near the finish line.  A clear road not only allows riders on course to race safely but also allows car traffic to safely pass, ensuring the overall security of the event.

Take a few minutes to remind your fellow clubmates, good race events in Ohio depend on it.

Summit Freewheelers Fall Challenge likely to be cancelled.

July 8th, 2008 Kirk Albers

The Summit Freewheelers Fall Challenge Road Race is likely to be cancelled due to a lack of support in running the event, contact the club if you would be willing to pitch in to help save the event.

The Fall Challenge is a great course, highly recommended by racers, hard without being impossible, the route offers a variety of terrain and is one of the great “all-rounder” courses in Northeast Ohio.

Team Akron Training Series Cancelled

April 11th, 2008 Kirk Albers

From the race promoter of the Team Akron Training Series:

Unfortunantely, due to bad and unsafe road conditions on the downhill section, I’ve decided to cancel the race series for this year.

Cuyahoga Falls will not be able to repave the section until later this summer. Even though there is a relatively clean line through the pot holes, I don’t feel comfortable putting a field of 35-40 racers on the course fighting for that one line while going downhill and the into a left turn at the bottom.

I enjoy putting this race on each year and hopefully conditions will be favorabe next year.

Thanks,

Brad Hansen
